Fourth Grade Religion
We use the Sadlier religion book We Believe: God's Law Guides Us. There are four units, each with a specific focus.
Unit 1: Growing in Jesus Christ
Unit 2: The Commandments Help Us to Love God
Unit 3: The Commandments Help Us to Love Others
Unit 4: We Are Called to Holiness
Throughout the year, we will learn about the Beatitudes and the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. A major part of the year will focus on The Ten Commandments. We will learn these commandments and apply them to our daily lives.
By the end of the year, students should know the following prayers:
Sign of the Cross
Glory Be
Lord's Prayer
Hail Mary
Grace
Apostle's Creed
Act of Contrition
Holy, Holy, Holy
Memorial Acclamation
Lamb of God
Glory to God in the Highest
Rosary
Confiteor
Angelus
Come Holy Spirit
Because we are a Catholic school, prayer is an integral part of our daily life. Part of our morning routine is dedicated to praying for special intentions as a class as we pray, say the Pledge to the Cross, and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. We pray Grace as a class community before heading out to lunch. We pray together at the end of the day before dismissal.
A new addition to our class this year is a Prayer Wall. Throughout each day, students will have the opportunity to add their own personal prayers or intentions to the wall.
